You may remember Ian's name from the
May 2002 Tank Showcase
which featured his Tridacnid Maxima and some corals. Well, I got my grubby little hands on a
photo of his entire tank and how could I not make it a Showcase! The comments that follow date
from the May Showcase.

Here's a shot of a 4 inch Tidacnid Maxima together with a very healthy Euphyllia glabrescens, Euphyllia divisa, and Goniopora sp. (there's also some Cespitulata infirmata)
These guys are housed in a 80 imp gallon reef system comprising many other SPS, LPS and soft corals. The Maxima sits in about 18 inches of water under twin 150W MH lights.
Parameters: Temp - 24C; Photo Period - 8 Hours MH, 12 Hours Actinic; PH - 8.3 daytime / 8.1 at dawn; DKH - 8; Calcium - 420 ppm; Magnesium - 1350ppm; Ammonia / Nitrite - 0 ppm; Nitrate - 3 ppm; Phosphate - undetectable with Salifert test kit
Filtration: Approx 70Kg of Fijian and Caribbean live rock; Deltec 1250 turbo skimmer (excellent); Fluval 104 cannister for phosphate removal using Rowaphos
Dosing Regime: IKS Aquastar controlling...(These things are great !); Calcium Reactor Aquamedic 400, for duration of actinic photoperiod; Deltec Kalk stirrer and homemade top-off device, delivery controlled by IKS in response to PH fluctuations; 20 ml of Kent Marine Tech-I Iodine per week; Occasional additions of Seachem Reef Magnesium and Strontium (most comes from the reactor)
