This tank is a 220 gallon, set up in May 2000. For filtration I'm using approx. 150 pounds of live rock with a 3 inch deep live sand bed. Under the cabinet, I have a sump that has a biological sponge and an Aqua Medic Turboflotor 1000 protein skimmer. The water is turned back with an Eheim 1060 pump. Also an Aqua Medic Redox comp. to keep an eye on the redox potential.
Lightning: A. Medic Aquastar with moonlight, 2 x 150W 10,000K
MH., 25W blue bulb and 80W actinic. All connected to an Aqua Medic Light Computer. It stimulates
the moon cycle perfectly.
Circulation: Eheim 1060 (600g/h, main pump), Azoo 3000 (600g/h), 3 Maxijet 1200 (315 x3). Total estimate circulation is 2145 gallon per hour.
Additives: Everyday: Kalkwasser (Calcium Hydroxide) with top of. Weekly: Strontium, Iodine and Trace
Water changes: Every 2 weeks 10% using Reef Crystals
Water Parameters: pH: 8.2 - 8.3; Nitrite: 0.0; Nitrate: 3; Ammonia: 0; Calcium: 400-450; Redox: 518 (no ozone used); Phosphate: 0
Fish: 1 Purple Tang, 2 Percula, 1 Orchid Dottyback, 1 Mandarin
Corals: Yellow polyps, green colonial anemones, green buttons,
brown star polyps, 3 species of mushrooms, 1 tomato anemone (I brought it from south of Turkey,
no problems for almost a year).
Macroalgea: Grape caulerpa and money plant. They both came with
one of my live rock. At first nothing was there but 2 months later I first saw the grape caulerpa
coming out of the rock. I took some of it and buried in sand. Then a grape bloom.
Invertebrates: 3 Maxima clams, 2 cleaner shrimp, 2 fire (blood) shrimp, lots of snails (Turbo, astrea and margaritas). 5 small urchins. I still don't have any hermits in there but soon...
