Yes it's late. Yes it's short.
Too busy. Too stressed. Too overworked. Too under appreciated.
Maybe next month things will be different.

Editor's Comments:
Information in this section covers the latest happenings at Mark T. Taber's Reefs UK Web Site. Mark
has given me permission to publish any information from his mailing list that I feel would be of
interest to Fish 'N' Chips subscribers. So, the above, although reworded by me, should be credited
to Mark or to Derek Scales who works closely with Mark on the running of Reefs UK. The dates in bold
coincide with Mark or Derek's mailings and are provided as a reference.

Advanced Aquarist's Online Magazine - The premier issue of this online magazine published January 2002 features authors J. Charles Delbeek, Richard Harker, Randy Holmes-Farley, Terry Siegel, Doug Robbins, and Minh Nguyen. You can find the Advanced Aquarist's Online Magazine at http://www.advancedaquarist.com/.
1/4/02 - California, US: The National Marine Fisheries Service
awarded a grant to aid a community based eelgrass restoration project in California's
Channel Islands. After the El Nino in 1983, a bed at Frenchy's Cove on Anacapa Island was
devoured by a population explosion of sea urchins. The eelgrass has failed to return to
the site, even though urchins have returned to normal densities. The goal is to restore
the historic eelgrass bed at Frenchy's Cove, which will help support marine food webs and
enhance fish habitat. The entire news release can be found at

Chips...er...Tips
Aiptasia Removal
Edited By Elizabeth M. Lukan 1/31/02
"I just read your articles on Tridacna -- they were very helpful. Thought I might pass on my method for ridding the tank of Aiptasia. I had literally hundreds of them in my 45 gal high tank. You're right --every time I cleaned them off the rock, the population seemed to double. I finally used an old WaterPik dental irrigator. With the pressure turned up all the way, the small cleaning nozzle made short work of the anemones in the rock. Those that were merely blasted from their rocky lairs fell to the tank bottom where they were quickly consumed by hermit crabs and shrimp. Today, I have not a one left in the tank!"
"I used salt (from the tank) water in the machine, although I suppose you could also use tap or distilled water to wreak osmotic havoc on the anemones."
To Submit Your Tip: Send your tip via email to fishnchips@mail.com and I'll publish it in an upcoming issue of Fish 'N' Chips. I'll write it up for you or you can do it yourself if you are so inclined. Make sure you let me know if I can include your name and email address or if you'd rather go anonymous.
